Welcome to the North Star, a Journal of African American Religious History. This Fall 2007 Issue will be a bit different, in that we are not featuring an article, but an opinion piece from the editor on the state of African American Religious history as a area of study. I would like to encourage all of you to engage each other in a conversation over the next two months about the future of the field, what we have not done, what ought to be done, and new areas of scholarship. I will post many of your comments, so please email me at northstarjournal@gmail.com, and let the conversation begin.

This Issue of the North Star includes book reviews on Milmon F. Harrison's Righteous Riches: The Word of Faith Movement in African American Religion, and Dianne Stewart's Three Eyes for the Journey: African Dimensions of the Jamaican Religious Experience.

Also, for those who are interested, the University of Rochester is also hosting a year long series on New Trajectories of Inquiry: African and African American Religions in the Diaspora, sponsored by the Humanities Project at the University of Rochester and the Frederick Douglass Institute. A schedule of speakers and more information is located
here.

For the present, the format of the Journal remains unchanged. Please note, however, the journal's new email address, northstarjournal@gmail.com for article submissions, notices that you wish to put into the journal and the like. Please feel free also to send your mailing address so that you may be notified when the journal is updated. For your convienence, there is also a feedback form located on the index page for your convienence to send me your comments, and to also sign up for the book review list.
